The outpouring of support from so many of our members and friends over the last month has meant the world to us and has helped keep our spirits lifted while our gyms remain closed (and lonely!). We wish we could open back up yesterday, but the realities of the current situation are still working against us, as they are many others.

We know several of you are in the same position with the future of your business uncertain. Many of you have lost your jobs, have been furloughed or are unsure how much longer you will maintain your employment. We feel for you. There’s no other way to say it – this S.U.C.K.S. Hang in there. We have seen a lot of resources come through to ease the pain and to help get through this. We recommend you keep an eye on this information for individuals and businesses at https://coronavirus.utah.gov/.

Some of you who have been fortunate enough to keep your jobs, and your selfless commitment to help keep our local economic engine fueled for as long as possible does not go unnoticed. Your compassionate support is instrumental in keeping other local small businesses afloat and preventing as many lost jobs as possible.

The Front Climbing Club is but one small business in the region fighting the good fight – there are many others alongside us in the trenches. So, allow us to shine a light on some local business and causes we love that could use some of your help right now if you’re able.

1. Tip Your Server – Downtown Alliance

In Salt Lake City, 15,000 employees of the food service industry are now unemployed because bars and restaurants have been forced to close their doors. To help, actor and Salt Lake Local Ty Burrell and Mayor Erin Mendenhall have set up the Tip Your Server Program, which will donate money to those who are now unemployed due to these closures. learn more >>

2. Farmer Next Door

Consuming fresh food is a basic way to stay healthy while confined in your home. And eating your greens is even better when doing so supports a small business, which is why you should consider signing up for Farmer Next Door if you’re in Salt Lake City. You don’t even have to break quarantine rules to receive your share – the CSA offers no-contact-home-delivery options!

This program was founded and is run by Jill Bell and her family, who have had strong connections to The Front since the 80’s. Plus, Front members are eligible for discounted CSA shares! learn more >>

3. Impact Coalition Partners

Our Impact Coalition partners are nonprofits that rely heavily on volunteers and donations even in the best of times. Consider donating directly to any of these organizations or sign up for the Impact Coalition in Ogden or Salt Lake to make a long-lasting impact.

Our Impact Co. Partners are:
The Community Animal Welfare Society
The Salt Lake Climbers Alliance
Utah Clean Energy
Volunteers of America – Utah
YCC Community Support Center

4. Gail Miller Resource Center

The GMRC is just a hop and a skip away from The Front and is run by long-time member Matthew Melville. The facility offers aid to the city’s homeless population, and now more than ever could use your support.

If you have any extra hand sanitizer, disposable gloves, disinfecting/bleach wipes, men’s underwear (all sizes) or bath towels, you can deliver or ship them to the GMRC.

Two shipping locations are acceptable:

St. Vincent de Paul Dining Hall
437 W 200 S
SLC, UT

Or

The Gail Miller Resource Center
242 Paramount Ave.
SLC, UT

5. #OneUtah

Cotopaxi’s #OneUtah campaign, hosted in-tandem with Silicon Slopes Serves, directly supports the Intermountain Healthcare Foundation, the Utah Food Bank and Utah’s Department of Workforce Services. When you purchase a Cotopaxi #OneUtah t-shirt, all proceeds will go toward these organizations. Join Cotopaxi in their effort to Do Good! learn more >>

6. Front Climbing Club Gift Card

We cannot emphasize enough how overly surprised and in high spirits we are regarding all your sentiment to support us, our facilities and, most importantly, our employees. Many of you have sent us messages asking about other ways to support us. Right now, the best way would be to buy a gift card, which can be used for memberships, gear, climbing classes or youth camps. get your gift card >>

7. Lucky Slice Pizza

Lucky Slice is arguably one of THE best pizza places around, and they could use your help right now. Luckily, you can supplement your home-workout routine with a few New York-style slices, because Lucky Slice is still open for delivery and takeout from all locations! Be sure to show your local food-service industry some love! learn more >>

Don’t forget to show some love to our favorite watering holes and dining options once they reopen, or order take-out or gift cards from the ones that are offering! Several of the owners and employees climb at our gyms, and many of these local businesses have graciously donated or sponsored drinks and good eats for events at The Front.

Thank you for your continued support. We absolutely cannot wait to see ya’ll back in the gym and getting your pump in! Stay well and wash those hands!
